For the second time in school history, the 2013 Oilers made it to the Class 5A Div. I state title
game. Despite a valiant effort, Pearland fell to the defending state champion Allen Eagles. But
they did capture the 5A Div. I Region III crown on the way and knocked off a talented San Anto-
nio Madison team 38-34 to win the 5A Div. I state semifinals to finish 14-2 on the season.
The most important thing was
that the Oilers were still danc-
ing in the final game of the
season while everyone else
was at home.
In 2014, the Oilers once again
advanced to the post-season
after closing out the regular
season at 9-1. Pearland beat
Deer Park in the first round of
the playoffs before falling to
Dickinson to finish at 10-2.
In 2015, the Oilers won the District 22-6A title and finished 11-1 with a four-overtime loss to Dickin-
son in the area round to end their season.
In 2016, Pearland advanced to the post-season for the 17th consecutive year under Heath's guid-
ance and finished with an 8-4 record. The tradition will continue in 2017 as the foundation has
been laid by a great coach. New head coach James Farmer begins his 14th year with the Oilers
and will assume the leadership that will continue to make Pearland a team to be feared.
