Pearland Football 2019
Tullos began his new journey with the Oilers in 2018 and an 88-27 career
coaching mark. Pearland immediately responded to his leadership and
the Oilers captured the District 23-6A championship and closed out the
regular season with a perfect 10-0 mark.
The Oilers hosted the Dickinson Gators in the opening round of the 6A
Region III Div. I playoffs and fell to the Gators to close out the season
with a 10-1 record. Tullos was honored by his coaching peers as the Dis-
trict 23-6A “Coach of the Year.”
Tullos now has a 98-28 career mark and will no doubt pick up career win
No. 100 very early in the 2019 football campaign. The veteran coach has
a lot of talent to work with this season and the goal obviously is to repeat as league champions
and to make a deep run in the post-season.
The Oilers are looking to advance to the playoffs for the 20th consecutive year and to post their
21st straight winning season. From all pre-season indications, Pearland is favored to capture
their second consecutive league title.
Tullos is native of Cleveland, TX and a graduate of Cleveland High School and Sam Houston
State University. Ricky has been married to his wife Tara for 18 years and she is a high school
secretary. Tullos has two children, Andrew (18) and Tanner (17).
Tullos started his coaching career at Splendora High School where he was the defensive coor-
dinator for six years. Tullos then became the head coach over the next 12 years at Cleveland,
George Ranch, and now at Pearland High School.
The Pearland mentor has received numerous “Coach of the Year” honors, multiple district
championships, and a Class 5A Div. I state championship in 2015 at George Ranch. Tullos en-
joys spending time with his family, hunting, and fishing.
