Oilers were playing with a new energy and excitement. having a positive influence in the right direction.
In 2023 the Oilers showed great progress as the players
improved in speed and strength on both sides of the
ball. The Oilers closed out the season with a playoff
win over Dickinson and a 9-3 season while advancing
to the post-season for the 24th straight year.

Pearland is in a new district for the next two years
after realignment by the University Interscholastic
League (UIL). The Oilers are a pre-season pick to
finish second behind Shadow Creek, just in front of the
Dawson Eagles and the Manvel Mavericks, to make
the playoffs for the 25th straight season.

“We are making positive strides in the program every year,” Gotte said. “Last year our records were
Varsity 9-3, JV 8-2, Soph 10-0, Fresh Black 6-3-1, and Fresh Maroon 8-2. We will continue to transition
to player led leadership with maximum development of every kid in our program so they can be the best
person and player possible. We are excited about the future and look forward to continue to restore pride
            and tradition here in Pearland.”

Pearland, Dawson and Shadow Creek finished in a three-way tie for the District 23-6A title last
season, and it looks like it will be another close battle this season.
